Schumer sides with Bush foreign policy
Today's New York Times story on the first televised debate of the NY Senate race had Democrat Charles Schumer coming out in support of President Bush on some of the major issues of the day. (By the way, while the article says that Schumer said in the debate that he supported the decision to invade Iraq, I honestly am not quite sure what Kerry's current position is on that question.)
Mr. Schumer...referred to himself as "rather hawkish," said he "is more or less in complete agreement" with President Bush on his policy for Israel, said he recently voted with Mr. Bush on tax cuts for families and supported the president's decision to invade Iraq, though he offered mild criticism of the president's post—invasion handling of the conflict.
Even while criticizing the postwar strategy, Mr. Schumer credited the president with having "a strong and aggressive foreign policy to fight the war on terror."
