RFK, Jr. loses his mind

By

One of the sadder cases of Kennedyitis, the disease of thinking that your name alone suffices to make your political comments worthwhile, is Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. One of the more amusing snippets of television in the last year or so was his interview with Sean Hannity on the Hannity & Colmes television show. After RFK Jr. had denounced SUVs for their wasting of resources and so—called greenhouse gas emissions, Hannity asked him if he ever flew on private jets. Kennedy gulped so hard that it was unclear if his Adam's apple would ever return to normal position. Further questioning elicited the information that following the broadcast he would be boarding a private jset to fly off to Florida.

The only thing more ridiculous than Kennedy's situation was his attempt to justify his flying about in private planes, because he so busy, doncha' know. As if moms hauling kids around aren't busy, too. Way to dig deeper, Bobby!

Now, Byron York of NRO reports that RFKJ has uttered the other f—word, fascism, in describing the Bush Administration. He even cited a dictionary definition, to bolster his case. The only problem is that he made it up:

Kennedy finished his point by citing the American Heritage Dictionary, which he said "defines 'fascism' as the control of government by large corporations with right—wing ideology, driven by bellicose nationalism." That, Kennedy said, is the situation America is in today under the Bush administration....

For the record, the American Heritage Dictionary, as available on the web, includes the phrase "belligerent nationalism" but does not include references to corporations or "right—wing ideology."

This guy is a lawyer. Don't they teach courses on evicence in law school?
