One of my favorite activist groups is Protest Warrior, which began right here in San Francisco about 18 months or so ago. The hothouse environment of dominant leftism breeds its antithesis in a Hegelian process, so beloved of Marxists, except in this instance. The Protest Warrior group is informed with a major sense of irony, and uses its dry humor to devastating impact on the humorless, yet self—righteous left. In its first demonstrations, the Protest Warriors joined the anti—war leftists with signs carrying mocking messages such as 'War Never Solved Anything...except defeating Hitler and ending slavery.'

The PW movement has gone nationwide, and is developing both organizational and intellectual heft. PW has now published a manifesto which is well worth reading. In addition, the website contains links to reports on the activities of their various chapters, including video clips, some of which are hilarious.

PW is part of a conservative wave which is capturing the imagination and energies of a substantial portion of America's youth, who, if they are going to rebel against the power structure they face daily — the educational establishment — are going to go conservative. This appears to be happening, and by being fun, funny, and intellectually compelling, PW is accelerating the process.

These folks are great.
