Pie throwing charges re-filed
Good news from Tucson! The Pima Vounty Attorney's Office has re—filed charges against the two men alleged to have thrown a cream pie at Ann Coulter when she was attempting to deliver a public lecture. Earlier charges had been dismissed when neither Coulter nor the police officers making the arrest appeared in court.
There appears to be a bit of a problem with the County Attorney's office ability to notify others of their need to appear in court, based on the article in the Arizona Star. Let us hope that this prosecution can proceed, and that Ann will find the time necessary to appear for testimony in the case.
We must establish that those who wish to silence political speech through intimidation will be punished to the maximum extent of the law. It is very regrettable that Ann and other victims may have to disrupt their lives to appear in locations away from home. But the principle is worth it. Besides, I would love to read Ann's column describing the process of giving testimony and being cross—examined by defense attorneys (who had better watch out!).
