Oregon in the contest

By

President Bush made a surpise side trip to Oregon after the Arizona debate. It came as a surprise to many in the press corps. A new Riley poll today shows Bush up 5 in Oreogn. I don't believe it (all others show Kerry ahead), but maybe this state is much closer than Kerry thinks.

Nader was regrettably knocked off the ballot in the state where he would get a few points among bike—riding Bolsheviks. Gore won the state by 7,000 out of 1.5 million votes.

A new New Jersey poll out today shows it even in the Garden State. This is truly amazing. Gore won the state by 16%. Bush is making his first campaign trip next week. Cheney is also visiting, and Laura Bush too. So far, no ads running there, however.
