Oh please let it be so

Al Franken apparently is looking for a new line of work. His radio gig tanking before it ever got off the ground, Franken now says, in a local Minnesota Democratic Party newsletter (The Minneapolis Star—Tribune), that he is contemplating a run for the UINited States Senate, against Norm Coleman, who won his seat following the death of Paul Wellstone, in 2002. That would be in another 4 years, giving Franken plenty of time to nurse his wounds from a failed radio career, move back to the state of his birth, and learn something about local politics there.
Since Norm Coleman has been a fine United States Senator, this is most welcome news. A Franken candidacy would practically guarantee a Coleman victory. Having shot off his mouth in the vain attempt to prove himself witty, and succeeding only halfway, Franken is an oppo researcher's dream. Moreover, Minnesotans are not likely to look upon a New York entertainment smarty—pants as the most suitable representative of their state, in an era where important matters must be decided.
So let me add my voice to those urging Al Franken to uproot his family, move back to Minnesota, and force other Democrats off the stage. Minnesota needs you, Al, and so does the nation.
