Obfuscation nation
Here's what this American has been thinking about today. The fresh—out—of—the—can Washington Post/ABC opinion poll taken May 20th through the 23rd. The reason I did this is that the Post web site has the results presented in such a fashion that one can view the answer to only one question at—a—time! Boy, that really helps one to analyze the beast! I did my duty and compiled the results for your reading pleasure.
Some items of interest noted by yours truly:
1) The results may be compiled from two sets of questions since the question numbering scheme has some inconsistencies. See 2d followed by 2.1, 2.2, then 2.3 This also make one wonder if all the questions asked have been included.
2) The question numbering sequence does not place questions of an identical nature next to one another. So the first part of the spreadsheet has the results in the same order as given by the Post. The second half has the questions after 23.1 re—sequenced to provide this side—by—side comparison.
3) When viewed along with the results in the later part of the survey, one wonders if the binary nature of the approval/disapproval questions are as telling as they seem. Even using myself as an example, I might voice disapproval, not because I would vote against Bush, but because I'm not happy with ALL of what he's doing. Or is this a stretch?
4) In two instances, the same question is repeated with, in one case, slightly differing results.
