Not the best and the brightest? Blame more than unions
Donald MacQueen writes with some further thoughts on the problem of attracting highly capable idividuals to government service.
Unions are not the only reason bright people, especially white men, shun government service. The Clinton administration graded civil service managers on how many minorities they promoted. Everybody got the message — even the CIA. Middle and upper management is now full of the formerly "under—represented" —— women, Asian Pacific Islanders, the differently—abled, homosexuals, etc. What white male in his right mind would aspire to a career in these fever swamps? As the white male cohort retires, we are left with the PC hires, who will perpetutate themselves just as the academy has done.
