Howard Dean criticizes the media

By

In an age when a candidate's every word and action are so rigidly programmed, I thought Howard Dean's infamous wildly exhuberant scream rallying his troops and even himself was terrific——seemingly spontaneous and fun.  So when he was roundly mocked I was puzzled.

But my sympathy for his predicament has long disappeared; once again I am reminded why.  Speaking at his alma mater, Dean criticized the media's interpretation of his "Eeeeeiyaaaa!," seeing it as entertainment rather than news.  Well, criticizing the media is old hat; everyone does it, including me.  But his remedy is certainly not mine——the Democratic solution to every problem——government regulation.  So that's still yet another reason to be thankful he and so many of his fellow Democrats lost the election.

Hey Howard Dean, you don't like the present media, study all the options available——not one of them requires regulation or new laws.  Start your own  blog.  Accept even more invitations to speak on radio and television.  Write a national  newspaper column.  Go on the lecture circuit.  Do them all!

And remember, there is nothing wrong with entertainment.
