Cooper Union in NY City was founded by a wealthy engineer in the 19th century and charged no tuition for most of my adult life — and may still be tuition free. I just went to the website www.cooper.edu and found no discussion of tuition or scholarships. This may explain some of the professors' and students' real world disconnect.
