Fox News: Whither goest thou ?

By

Fox News' Saturday evening program, At Large with Geraldo Rivera, piqued my interest, since Geraldo was focusing on the current battle for Fallujah, and was taking a trip into the past when Coalition and militia forces were attempting to corner Osama bin Laden in the Tora Bora region of Afghanistan.

Wanting to get the latest information on the fight in Fallujah, especially from a new media outlet, I settled back for a fair and balanced report from Iraq.  To my surprise, the reporter on the ground was none other than Michael Ware of Time Magazine, who was reporting via cell phone directly from the battle—scarred town itself.  I was dumbfounded that Fox News would make use of this Australian correspondent, given his seeming allegiance not to the Coalition, but rather to the enemy.

Readers may remember in an article  here from last July that Mr. Ware had seemingly seen the light and joined up with units actually doing the fighting.  There was one problem: he joined the wrong side.

Functioning as a messenger for the terrorists may be a good way for Ware to get the inside scoop on what is going on in the town, however, his earlier praise of these thugs and their brutal tactics hardly makes him a fair and balanced source to report on Coalition operations in the Sunni Triangle.

What the heck is going on at Fox News that they would rely on thissort of reporter to go prime time on one of their news programs?
