EU Constitutional Talks Falter

Silvio Berlusconi, a man I admire, is warning that it is better to have no deal on a proposed EU constitution, than to approve a bad agreement. I just wish he would apply the same logic to all the other bad arrangements the EU has made, and which remain in place.
The EU is a threat to the best interests of Europeans, not to mention the rest of us. Most important decisions are put into the hands of unaccountable bureaucrats, who lead well—paid lives of privilege. Corruption thrives in obscure political arrangements, which the EU is full of. Recently, it was discovered that the European Statistical Agency was corruptly spending millions of Euros each year on fine dining, and special allowances (for taxis, etc.) that ended up in the pockets of the bureaucrats, no receipts necessary.
Those of us who love the cultural achievements of Europe, who are thankful for the heritage of capitalism, the scientific and industrial revolutions, the art, music, architecture, and so much more which Europe has contributed to all mankind, must watch in horror as the current generation seems determined to commit demographic suicide, while impoverishing themselves with welfare state waste, and constructing a veritable Fourth Reich of high—handed mandarins in Brussels.
