Deregulation and Rathergate

By

Our friend Jack Risko has an excellent post on his website Dinocrat, linking CBS's response to the blogosphere's challenge to the broader sweep of deregulation. Like many "legacy corporations" born and bred in the comfy competitive environments of the past, CBS does not know how to be energetic in defending itself.

Having exchanged correspondence with Jack on many occasions, I know him to be a highly knowledgable student of the broader sweep of business history and competitive theory. His opinions are well worth your time.

As I have stated many times, the deeper significance of Rathergate will not be obvious for a long time, but it is already clear that future historians will look upon the election of 2004 as a pivotal one in the role and structure of media.
