Death of a musician

By

Perhaps the generational conflict in music is inevitable——there are some theories that young peoples' hearing hasn't quite developed while aging increases sensitivity to higher decibels.  And of course the kids just love the noise that drives their parents crazy. And maybe that's the point.

The precocious Mozart shocked and worried his elders over 150 years ago just as happens with contemporary musicians——and yes, they are musicians——today.

Long before Frank Sinatra became an icon, parents worried about his effect on their screaming bobby sox daughters.  Elvis Presley's suggestive hip movements sent another generation's teen aged daughters into delighted tears to the concern of their parents and those long haired Beatles produced the same parental concerns about their female offspring.  Ditto with the rap, hip hop and house music now.

So it is sad to report the death by an aparent heart attack of one of the earliest rappers. The music lives on.  And so does the controversy.
