Death by toothache
It is the overly litigious nature of our society that turned a toothache into a life and death situation. If it wasn't for Terri Schiavo, we probably never would've heard the name Teron Francis. Two Shakespeare quotes come to mind "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers." and "Lord, what fools these mortals be." Take your pick.
