Condoleeza Rice purportedly betrays black women - again
Last week you read the disparaging reaction of a black female Chicago Tribune columnist to the nomination of a black female as Secretary of State. Echoing the rather universal liberal condemnation of Ms Rice as a betrayer of her gender and a betrayer of her race and most importantly, as one who most awfully betrayed black females, Ms Trice pondered why she wasn't thrilled by Ms. Rice's success. Although she didn't call her an Aunt Jemima as another so notoriously did, Trice did think Rice has abandoned her people because while she is talented, smart, successful...she agrees with Bush.
That reasoning is oh so typical of liberals. Liberals loftily proclaim diversity as an ideal but when actually confronted with genuine diversity, in this instance a black female Bush supporter, their brains melt rendering them well, narrow minded, confused folks who desire conformity.
But so many readers responded so negatively to Trice's put down of Rice she devoted another column to further explain her views. But she can't coherently explain, for by now the idea of Rice as Bush's Secretary of State has so destroyed her brain she can only sputter. She calls Rice supporters, and I'm sure she thinks this is so so clever, "Readers in Support of Black People Like Condoleezza Rice." And then she informs them that Rice as a messenger of inspiration is not important because she is delivering a terrible message.
That message seems to be think independently and intelligently; no need to wallow in victimhood. Liberals of all colors seem to believe this is terrible——they've lost their crutch. They've lost their excuse for failure. They've lost their crutch. And they've lost a group they can feel superior to.
How sad. How irrelevant.
Hooray for Ms. Rice. Poor Ms. Trice.
