Condoleeza

By

Michael Geer writes us with his views on the pending appointment of Condoleeza Rice, which are consistent with today's article:

Even the barest cursory examination of Ms. Rice's curriculum vitae illumines that her primary National Security focus has always been the Soviet communist threat.

That she is GW's pick to not only head up State but to conduct a top to bottom house cleaning is thrilling particularly in light of Ion Pacepa's crystal clear revelations as well as Lev Navorov and Golitsyn — that the Islamic terror we face is but the Grey Terror campaign of the Soviets preparatory to the real strike against us. Radicalized Islam as cut—out. Admittedly, Islamic terror is both serious and real, but the actual adversary is the same adversary that J Edgar Hoover warned us of so thoroughly in Masters of Deceit.

Quoting Frontpage Magazine (via Powerline) — we find out that (a) Condoleeza is the most awesome choice of SOS we may ever see and (b) GW planned this chess move to position Ms. Rice for this particular post at least six years out from where we are today. A brilliant academic mind without the conceit of wonkism; a woman of inspiring discipline and inspiring character; and an American who has bored in on the Soviet threat for most of her career now in charge of purging State. I am thrilled that we may finally be getting down to the core of the real fight.

UPDATE: Douglas Hanson adds:

It's nice to see people are picking up on this modus operandi — exactly as I concluded in Arafat's first war, and Where we stand (II).

I was against Condi's appointment to DoS because I thought her geo—political warfare abilities would be wasted trying to clean out the rat's nest at State, but I started to swing the other way earlier today, and this letter sealed it.  GW in his 2d term is going to play hardball in our internal war.
