Chirac's anti-Americanism shocks leftist journo
I found in the very liberal French daily Liberation an article entitled: "Chirac gives a lesson of anti—Americanism to Hanoi." Even the Liberation journalist is amazed at the violent diatribe against the US uttered by French president Chirac during a speech in Vietnam.
The journalist reports that the Vietnamense students in attendance were also shocked and could not believe their ears. Chirac directly accused the US of imposing a "generalized under—culture throughout the world." Chirac actually said: "We are fighting a gainst the American theses, regarding culture, because if we followed them, then we would end up getting an under—culture throughout the world, which would be the worst thing. He added, "If there was only one language one culture, everything else would disappear and it would be a total ecological catastrophe."
Interestingly he went on by stating "If we accepted the theses of our American FRIENDS, there would be quickly just one cultural expression. All the other cultural expressions would be stifled by the American culture."
For those who still think that France hates us because of George W Bush, wake up!!! Notice that Chirac still calls us "Friends." What would it be then if we were his ennemies?
It is high time especially for Democrats to realize that even if Jean Francois Kerry gets elected, France would not be an ally anymore than it is today. France already said that they would not send any troops in Iraq, so much for Kerry's affirmation that he would bring our allies on board.
