Chanukah celebrations
The Jewish holiday of Chanukah which tonight, commemorates several politically incorrect themes: miracles, successful resistance to assimilation by practicing Judaism which had been banned and the ultimate——a military victory by the outnumbered Jews against the oppressive Greco—Syrians.
Jews light candles to remember the miracle of the oil that lasted eight days when there was only enough for one day.
The spirit continues today. At Columbia University in New York, where Jewish students have accused certain members of the faculty of anti Jewish attitudes and intimidation, Jewish students are boldly celebrating the holiday.
As the Hebrew letters on the Chanukah holiday tops proclaim: (translated from the Hebrew) A great miracle happened there (in Israel).
Happy Chanukah.
