Bret Schundler running for NJ governor

By

The former mayor of Jersey City, New Jersey, Bret Schundler, has tossed his hat into the ring, and is running for governor, to succeed Jim McGreevy, who defeated him for governor in 2001. As mayor, Schundler pulled off a political miracle, and turned around that troubled city, earning large margins of victory in his re—election efforts, from an overwhelmingly Democratic electorate. The man understands how to govern, and is unafraid of bold steps in the right direction.

I was bitterly disappointed when he was defeated in his first run for governor. Obviously, the voters made the wrong choice. This time, he will face the mega—wealthy NJ Senator Jon Corzine, who has declared his intention to run for governor. Corzine will be a tough opponent, if Schundler wins the GOP nomination.

I have had the good fortune to meet and talk with Bret Schundler, and consider him a political hero. He is both highly intelligent AND level—headed, a practical visionary. He lives his religious values, deeply motivated to serve his fellow citizens by service.

New Jersey would be very lucky to have him as governor. I hope they rectidy their earlier electoral mistake and give him the state's highest office.
