As reported by the Sunday Telegraph, Tony Blair authorized a deal with the Romanian PM (Adrian Nastase) last October, which lifted visa restrictions on Romanians entering the UK, on the condition that they not apply as asylum applicants. This revelation, tied in with the fact that Tony Blair made a bold promise last year to halve the number of asylum seekers, may embroil him in the larger immigration scandal which has already caused the resignation of his Immigration Minister, Beverley Hughes.
