Be careful what you wish for

To those who honor humanitarian interventions (and constantly petition America to intervene in places like Rwanda, Haiti, and the Ivory Coast) and to those allies (like the Europeans, Taiwanese, Japanese, Koreans) who have relied upon us in the past to use our military forces to defend them or  to dissuade attacks, this should be a sobering reminder of what the US can become under a Kerry Administration. These nations may have to substantially up their defense expenditures, arms races may begin, and their vaunted welfare systems may be devasted to fund these build—ups.

As the world lies prostrate before the depradations of Darfur and as Iran —— the world's foremost terror state ——builds nuclear weapons, imagine America under a leader who proclaims "war should be a last resort" and only undertaken "when it has to". War should not necessarily be undertaken as the last option, but sometimes when it is the best option.
