BBC harm is worldwide
Aleksander Boyd, the courageous anti—Chavez Venezuelan blogger, operates his site Vcrisis from London. He writes to us in response to James Lewis's article today, Is BBC News a figment of the imagination?
Please allow me to rephrase that; BBC News is not a figment of the imagination, rather the credibility, integrity and impartiality that once characterized it, is indeed a figment of the imagination. It's reach is neither some hallucination; news provided by the Beeb have the power to convert masses and sway opinion, ever to the left.
In my particular case I can affirm that much of the contempt that the whole world feels towards Venezuela's opposition, as a legitimate political entity, has to do with the promotion, by the BBC, of a rather infamous propaganda film entitled "The Revolution will not be televised". Said film, needs to be stressed, was co—produced by the BBC, alas to this day the corporation denies any responsibility upon the issue and graver still, in clear violation to its own Guidelines and Standards, it has decided to waive the statutory right to reply to those of us who have strongly complained about the issue. The film deals with the alleged coup that the opposition gave to Hugo Chavez, however transcendental events, such as the announcement made by the commander in chief of the armed forces about Hugo Chavez' resignation, were conveniently ignored and left out.
How can a news conglomerate, with the likes of Richard Gott and Greg Palast as reporters, be even consider trustworthy? The Beeb was once a great news source, nowadays is a company run by mediocre tabloid—minded journos.
