Steve Bing, Hollywood—based heir to a real estate fortune and big Kerry donor, now has his failures pointed out to him in the pages of today's Wall Street Journal (subscription required).

Bing was one of the biggest donors to Democratic groups this election cycle — giving more than $14 million, only to see his candidate go down to defeat. Now, it appears that his huge investment in the Christmas movie The Polar Express is already being declared a cropper based on opening weekend ticket sales to this bomb.

This box office disaster must be especially savored because this movie is clearly based on the Christian holiday and Bing not only supported a candidate opposed by many Christians, based on the perception that Kerry was not religious, but also because Bing has engaged in un—Christian behavior — falsely denying that he fathered a baby out—of—wedlock with model/actress Elizabeth Hurley.

Maybe Bing should tend to his knitting — enjoying the wealth built by his family instead of wasting his patrimony.
