Anti-American writer pulls anti-American singalong
One of our readers, Paul Ford, has kindly brought to our attention an interesting update on the British play named 'Follow the Leader', written by Mr Alistair Beaton. As we reported last week, this satirical play included footage of 9/11, and also encouraged the audience to sing an Anti—American sing song.
Subsequently, the distinguished columnist Mark Steyn took up the subject of the same play in his Daily Telegraph column, as well.
Independently, a Mr Green from the UK, wrote a letter to the Birmingham Rep, complaining about the anti American nature of the sing along. Mr Alistair Beaton has now replied to Mr Green and agreed to remove the song from the play. Mr Green must be congratulated for taking the trouble to write his letter to the Birmingham Rep. Also of note is that Mr Green was not in favour of the war in Iraq, but he quite rightly, took issue with the blatant anti American tone of the song in the play.
The fact is that anti—war doesn't necessarily mean anti—American. This is known as civilized disagreement, and is one of many things which distinguishes us from our jihadist enemies. In most cases, anyway.
