Feminists May Succeed Where Blofeld Failed – Killing James Bond

I didn’t think it possible, but James Bond movies are becoming even more fanciful – casting a female 00 agent who is disrespectful to Commander Bond. If movies succumb to the loony Left’s cultural misappropriation, then Bond may soon become an effete metrosexual, a fate worse than Goldfinger and Blofeld combined could have contrived.  Perhaps women are “more equal” at a lot of things, but being a 00 agent is not one of them.

In the upcoming James Bond movie, No Time to Die, the new female 00 spews this forgettable line: “The world’s moved on, Commander Bond, so stay in your lane.”   What a bunch of lefty tripe!  It makes me long for “Pussy Galore” in Goldfinger (yes, that was a popular character’s name, played by Honor Blackman)  or even the devilishly sultry Onatopp in GoldenEye, who’d squeeze the dickens out of the hapless men underneath – what a way to go!  Yep, that Onatopp was truly a strong woman, but the incessant calls to cast “strong women” to rein in one of the greatest movie characters ever are becoming tiresome.  Rather than feminine fortitude, they may actually reflect insecurity.

If movies are supposed to reflect the times, or represent the Left’s interpretation of our so-called cultural zeitgeist, then why are more “strong” women blowing stuff up and doing Kung Fu, and whatnot?  In reality, they often champion victimhood and screech at the slightest affront to their delicate psyches.  Part of their plight, according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, comes down to brain chemistry -- their estrogen and progesterone. Rather than fight, women are more wired to take flight, so how does that little fact support calls to feminize James, or even replace him with a female 007?

Maybe the world has moved on since Ian Fleming imagined Bond; nevertheless, 007, or any 00 agent in MI6, may reasonably be expected to exhibit the skills exemplified by our elite troops.  Bond is a Commander, after all, so let’s ponder some real-world analogues for a moment.

Remember the MSM frothing with excitement over two women graduating from Army Ranger School?  Actually, there’s evidence it was predetermined by generals succumbing to political pressure to ensure that women graduated.  Women who failed tests were allowed a redo, and given favorable treatment not afforded the men.   This is hardly surprising given the “Dempsey Rule” that if a standard is too hard for women, then it’s too hard, period.   While the loony, seething feminists may be moving on to a delusional Dempsey world of androgynous agents, nature is a bit more steadfast; indeed, there are physical and neurological reasons why male dominance emerges.

The Army Rangers are awesome, but you’d also expect the incomparable Commander Bond to be as finely tuned and fighting fit as Navy SEALS, who require speed, strength and stamina that nature has gifted men. Yet, even as ex-Navy SEALS commander Adm. Brian Losey, under political pressure, recommended opening the branch to women, he admitted they are more prone to injuries and probably won’t enhance SEAL team effectiveness.  Why undermine team cohesiveness, then?

Women can be very effective spies when the assignment doesn’t entail much physical prowess or mechanical aptitude, as they are endowed with cunning and sneakiness.  But 00 agents take it to another level, and are expected to run, shoot, swim, jump, fight, ski… as well as operate complex machinery.  An analogue from the real world might be the Pentathlon event at the Olympic Games, and a bit of the Decathlon, to boot.  You won’t be surprised that men far outperform women.  If movies are supposed to reflect the times, then traditional Bond prevails over fervent feminist revisionism.

Above all, 00 agents must drive fast cars very adeptly.  Men are not only more mechanically inclined but are generally faster to react behind the wheel. Danica Patrick was almost an exception, but after winning one IndyCar series race, she was mostly an also-ran.  Despite numerous endorsements and opportunities, she never repeated that success (her 2018 position in NASCAR Cup series was 47th; she finished 35th in her final NASCAR race).  Once again, despite the feminist cackles to move Bond on, real-world endeavors suggest men have the right stuff, which is relevant if movies are supposed to reflect the times… as the MeToo purveyors insist.

The producers and script writers for Bond may be trying to peddle their #MeToo sensibilities, but lefties who deny nature and millennia of development are succumbing to various mental maladies.   Women are already much more prone to depression and anxiety; emasculating the James Bond franchise to reflect the feminist pathos may inflict yet more cognitive dissonance on those with a tenuous grasp on reality.

While the loony lefties may be trying to move on to a delusional Dempsey world, nature remains resolute:  in addition to the obvious physical prowess of men, there actually are differences in the male and female brain.  Newly minted 00 agent Nomi notwithstanding, women are generally more empathetic, men more systematic.   Women thrive on squishy feelings, men are prone to analyze “systems," organized conditions, mechanics, and technology.  Which traits do you think most benefit a 00 agent?  The female brain will often ruminate on and revisit emotional memories more than the male brain, but 00 agents have little time for wallowing.

Now then, women are “more equal” in a lot of things, especially the sort of work that Bond’s Miss Moneypenny did in the service of MI6.  In many ways, they are the glue that holds civil society together. As you can see on page 6 of this BLS-generated document (2015) “Employed persons by detailed occupation, sex, race and Hispanic or Latino ethnicity,” women represent 85% of personal care aides; 72.2% of employees in office and administrative support occupations; 82% of social and human service assistants; and 90% of receptionist and information clerks. But, for both neurologic and physical reasons, they rarely equal men in the traits required to be Army Rangers, Navy SEALS, or super-elite 007 agents called upon to thwart SPECTRE.

The feminists insinuating themselves into the James Bond franchise are riding the #MeToo wave for all it’s worth; they are also riding daddy’s coattails (Albert R. Broccoli begat Barbara Broccoli, for example), and other illustrious men who envisioned one of the GOAT movie franchises. As they seek feminist “empowerment” by shriveling Bond’s cocky character, juxtaposed to a practically “perfect” female 00 agent, they may accomplish what Dr. No, Jaws, Goldfinger, and Blofeld couldn’t – killing off James Bond.  He won’t go as spectacularly as his missions warrant; instead, his license to thrill will be revoked, perhaps passed down – down -- to a female 00 wannabee.  Rather than a grand tussle with the likes of Bambi and Thumper (Diamonds Are Forever), the great James Bond will suffer indignity by being killed softly by female producers and writers who overindulge in feminist hubris.
