The Great Loss of What It Means to Be an American
Speaking and singing at rallies on the Rebuild America Defeat Obama national bus tour, I am blessed to look patriots in the eye and feel their love for their country. My speech conveys how offended I am that Obama continues to lower the standard of what it means to be an American.
In 1956, my black dad broke the color barrier to become a Baltimore firefighter. The white firefighters at Engine 6 hated my dad. Despite horrific conditions, Dad won Firefighter of the Year two times. Dad won not because of lowered standards, affirmative action, or someone deciding that it was the black guy's turn. Dad won because he was the best. That was a time when America celebrated excellence.
As kids, my four younger siblings and I were taught by our parents that we were proud Marcuses, held to a higher standard. Liberals believe that to be proud of who you are somehow diminishes others, which is absurd. Our Marcus pride, and our behaving accordingly, inspired friends to raise the bar of their behavior.
Even drunks in our Maryland black suburban community respected my dad and kept an eye out for his kids. "Hey, leave that little girl alone. She's one of Rev. Moccasin's kids!"
My father convinced his five children that it meant something to be a Marcus.
President Obama, the current leader/father of our country, has made it clear that he thinks being an American is nothing of which to be proud. Thus his worldwide apology tour. Obama minions who control our schools banned wearing shirts that feature the American flag and banned singing the song "Proud to be An American." Both displays of patriotism were deemed potentially offensive to immigrants.
Our rich heritage of self-reliance and hard work are also under attack by Obama. While Obama touts these cherished traditional values, his policies encourage the exact opposite. Under Obama, an unprecedented half of the country receives government assistance. Forty-seven million are on food stamps. Obama is running ads trolling for more victims to sign up for free food.
Obama touts self-reliance out of one side of his mouth while demonizing small business owners and investors out of the other. He skillfully exploits the sin of class envy to win allies for his unconstitutional confiscation and redistribution of wealth. Obama lies, telling the clueless that the rich are not paying their fair share.
In short, you have too little because those rich SOBs have stolen it all.
American citizenship was further dramatically cheapened when Obama, via executive order, made millions of illegals legal. This was cynically done solely to win Hispanic votes. Both parties believe that Hispanics are loyal to their ethnic group. As for me, I think it racist to assume that a majority of Hispanics approve of lawbreakers being moved to the head of the citizenship line. Meanwhile, Hispanics who respect our laws, honor our flag, and learn our language are pushed to the back of the line.
Obama's buddies in Hollywood are loving the fact that he is finally putting an end to the "embarrassing" flag-waving, proud American, Ronald-Reagan American-exceptionalism crap. Along with standards of morality and character, patriotism gives them the heebie-jeebies.
Obama's new lowered American standard also includes making it a crime against society to make money -- at least if you are a conservative or Republican.
Hardcore liberal singer Barbra Streisand can charge a gazillion dollars for a ticket to her concert. Several Democrats are multimillionaires. The Obamas eat only $150-a-pound Kobe beef.
Three of Michelle Obama's vacations cost taxpayers one million dollars. And yet Obama and his liberal friends suffer no criticism and are portrayed by the MSM as heroes of the 99 percent.
Meanwhile, small business owners who are true friends of the masses because they employ most Americans are branded by the MSM as evil, selfish one-percenters. Welcome to Obama's new standard of what it means to be an American; achievers demonized, deadbeats with their hands out sainted.
Even Democrat president JFK inspired Americans to come up higher. "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."
While Obama does not specifically say these words, his re-election message is clear. If you hate achievers as much as I, vote for me. If you believe that you have too little because the rich have too much, vote for me. If you believe that America is unjust, greedy, selfish and the greatest source of evil on the planet, vote for me. If you want government to "carry you" cradle to grave, thus controlling every aspect of your life, vote for me. If you want a "free" Obama Phone, vote for me.
Folks, Obama's vision is not who we are as a people. We are far, far greater. We are Americans!
