Calling all heroes

By

On September 11, 2001, America was attacked by those who desired to inflict destruction and devastation on our country. They took aim at our society and our citizens with their plans and our planes, and they left behind death and destruction. But they did not achieve their goal of defeating the American spirit.

For in the midst of this attack on freedom, great heroes emerged. In the skies over Shanksville, in the uniforms of New York‘s finest, in the medical personnel who saved lives in the city streets; in the selfless and nameless citizens who gave hands-on help and in the hearts of millions who prayed across the country, Americans rose to the occasion and refused to be defeated.

My fellow citizens, the freedom we enjoy is again in jeopardy -- only this time the threat is from within. And a heroic effort is needed by liberty-loving citizens of all political persuasions if this enemy is to be stopped.

You see, for some time now an ideology that is distinctly different from that of our Founders has been steadily and stealthily creeping into Washington D.C.  Disguised as run-of-the mill politicians, representatives and senators who are in actuality followers of a philosophy of government called Progressivism have been voted into office by an unsuspecting electorate.

The Progressive plan is derived from the Cloward-Piven strategy, their playbook comes from think tanks such as the Center for American Progress and the Institute for Policy Studies, and their curriculum is subtly disseminated in college classrooms across the country.

They‘ve been exploiting the poor, overtaxing the rich, and manipulating the middle class for years as they work towards their endgame, and now that a Progressive practitioner is  in the White House, watch out. The combined efforts of the Congress and the President are now able to unleash a power play which may bring America to a point of no return.  This arrogant lot wants to run individual liberty into the ground and replace it with immense levels of government control from which we never recover, bringing capitalism and individual opportunity to a grinding halt.

It would be understandable if you were skeptical of such a suggestion. Impossible, you might say, this is the United States of America. We have a Constitution! We have representation! We vote for people called Republicans and Democrats and Ross Perot and Ron Paul, who love baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet (but not Ford)!

If only an ideological Trojan horse among us truly were impossible. But the very freedom we enjoy in the U.S. is the same freedom which allows our 300 million citizens to think independently. It's a freedom which allows almost anyone to run for public office. And it's a freedom which gives you the opportunity to decide if the pitch you're hearing from your politician is true -- and truly American -- and to cast your ballot accordingly.

Unfortunately, for years many American voters have not been practicing safe citizenship. Too many of us heard the political pitch and chose to give our vote to the smooth-talking campaigner who left for Washington the next day and wasn‘t seen again until the next election. We've pulled the same lever for the same letter November after November, often looking at our candidates only long enough to make sure they were spouting the party mantra.

The result: a cadre of radical decision-makers who've been plotting and planning for decades is ready to pounce. And tragically, there are almost no restraints holding these chameleons back from obtaining the change they desire. In fact, other than personal conscience the only thing that may prevent your elected representative, senators, and president from following through with their plans is your voice.

Remember the movie Mr. Smith Goes to Washington?   Jimmy Stewart portrays Jefferson Smith, a naïve nobody appointed by a crooked governor to replace a deceased Senator. In Washington the patriotic Mr. Smith has a rude awakening, discovering on the road to his one-man filibuster that there is a deceptive scheme being planned by some of his fellow senators -- including his father's most trusted friend. But because Jefferson Smith knows what is good and right and true, he won't stop talking until the deception has been exposed.

America could use a few million Mr. -- and Mrs. -- Smiths right about now.

To preserve our individual liberty, we need those who have the courage of their convictions and the passion of their patriotism to be the heroes of today. Like Jefferson Smith, we must speak out -- to everyone in our sphere of influence and to our elected officials. We need the voices of reporters, politicians, business owners, soccer moms, grandparents and teachers. We need environmentalists, theists, atheists, and people who are pro-choice and pro-life. We need citizens who are rich and those who aren‘t, black and white, immigrant and natural-born, urban and suburban to join in this cause.

Maybe most important of all, America needs the average person who checked their due diligence at the door last November to spend just 10 minutes checking into the possibility that they were swindled, and those who saw this coming to swallow their 'I told you so' and embrace those who were not so prescient.

We must set aside our differences and work together to preserve freedom -- Democrats, Republicans, and Independents united against the march of Progressivism.

Where do you begin? You can start by getting curious.  Do some research (you may want to start by googling ‘Cloward-Piven' and ‘Progressivism'). Ask questions. Listen.  Be skeptical. Use discernment. Think. Analyze. And once you've drawn your own conclusions, get involved! Talk with -- not to -- the people you know. Call or write your representatives and senators and let them know your opinion on the issues. Donate to candidates who will defend the constitution. Get ready to cast an educated vote when the next election comes around. And above all, pray for our country.

Heroism often comes at a cost. We who raise questions and objections may suffer consequences. We may lose friends, reputations, or worse. But don't you feel as though something is already lost?  Don't you long for the normality that existed not too long ago, before the government began their intervention into private industry? Aren't you already feeling an obligation to your children and grandchildren to halt the home-grown hijackers who thought they could get away with stealing your chance at life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?!

This moment in history requires us to stand guard in defense of the Constitution of the United States of America.  Like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, the heroes of 9/11, and countless others in our country's history, we must carry on in the struggle for the preservation of liberty.

Left unchecked, those who desire power more than freedom have the potential to destroy the work of all those who have lived and died for the sake of this flawed but phenomenal nation.   Many of America's heroes gave their lives defending freedom; the least we can contribute is our voice.
