Who Was Barack Obama In His Previous Incarnation?
Many people believe in reincarnation and that a reincarnating soul will find itself born into similar circumstances from one lifetime to the next; that a powerful leader, for example, will more or less play an encore version of his previous existence.
Rumor has it that Napoleon thought he was Charlemagne, General Patton believed he was Hannibal, and Saddam Hussein was convinced he was the reincarnation of Nebuchadnezzar. If reincarnation is true and a soul repeatedly lives an encore version of the previous life, then it would be important to know who Barack Obama was in his last life (so that we Americans can better know what to expect in our collective future).
Before jumping to any conclusion as to who our President was in his last life, we need to first analyze great historical peoples of the past, hold them up to the present-day Barack Obama, and make our best guess.
Prior to the Third Punic War, I wonder if there existed an influential group of elitist Carthaginians who tried to convince their fellow citizens they were best off turning over their weapons to the Romans just prior to Rome's invasion of Carthage, the razing of the city, and the massacring of its inhabitants? Perhaps President Obama, known for his disarm America mentality that seeks to "achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenal," was one of those Carthaginian community organizers.
Neville Chamberlain, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1937 to 1940, was the great appeaser of his time. Through the Munich Agreement, he acquiesced to Hitler's every demand; sold out the sovereign nation of Czechoslovakia, and puffed on an exploding cigar he called peace for our time. Perhaps President Obama, known for looking the other way while Iran develops nuclear weapons and plots the annihilation of Israel, was Neville Chamberlain.
Karl Marx, the father of communism, was primary author to the famous Communist Manifesto. His writings, forever pitting workers and employers against one another, call for a classless society in which the free market system ceases and community ownership trumps private ownership. Perhaps the President, whose socialist agenda includes taking over the banks, the auto industry, and healthcare, is the reincarnation of Karl Marx.
To be sure, a case can be made that Barack Obama, in a former life, may have been a Carthaginian community organizer, Neville Chamberlain, or Karl Marx. This list of possibilities, however, does not include, to me, the most likely.
In my hometown of Chicago there is an understanding that if you do not like the weather, stick around for an hour, it will change. All month long, I have been wearing my jacket waiting for our weather to change and it has not. In fact, according to the meteorologists, this July, 2009, in Chicago, and throughout the Midwest, has been one of the coldest, if not the coldest, July ever. But our President, who happens to hail from Chicago, assures us (man-made) global warming is an incontrovertible fact; a global threat that requires us to change our lifestyle and endure greater taxing, even though the facts on the ground refuse to cooperate.
Could it be that our President was at one time a famous leader who perpetrated a great climate hoax so that he could manipulate his followers? Perhaps Barack Obama was the legendary Viking leader known as Erik the Red.
According to legend and the epic classic, The Saga of Erik the Red, upon returning home from his banishment from Iceland, Erik the Red came up with a clever ruse to convince his cohorts to follow him to a land that he had become familiar with during his time away. This land was barren, mostly ice covered, featured strong winds, cold temperatures, and stood hundreds of miles to the west (a treacherous journey for longboats). In order to manipulate his people into following him, Erik the Red, one heck of a salesman, understood "Men will desire much the more to go there if the land has a good name." Therefore, he misled his loyal constituency and told them they should go with him to the land that sounded better and actually was a lot nicer than where they lived, Iceland, to a place he cleverly misnamed Greenland. By doing so, Erik the Red pulled off the most misleading climate yarn of all time -- until now.
If it were up to me to choose, I would say that Barack Obama is most likely the reincarnation of Erik the Red because he and Erik were both terrific sales people and masters of the false promise. Erik the Red promised a green land. Today, President Obama promises a green land called hope and change.
Of course, it does not really matter whether or not Barack Obama was once Chamberlain, Marx, or Erik the Red. What matters is whether our President thinks like these men, because, in the end, "As a man thinketh, so he is."
