What McCain Must Do
Three weeks remain before Election Day.
During this brief period John McCain either successfully teaches a national course entitled "Who is Barack Obama, and What Will he do as President", or Obama gains the most powerful position in human history -- completely unknown to the electorate who will have given him the job.
The story of how Obama is now approaching the pinnacle of earthly political power without ever having to answer for his views, his closest associations, his voting record or his public statements is now depressingly familiar:
First, a national media dominated by the poorly educated, the emotionally transfixed, and the left refused to educate the public, because it was in love; second, Obama's principal opponent in his own party refused to educate the public, because she knew that the nomination she would thereby gain would be worthless (the Democrat Presidential nomination is not worth having if the left and the blacks are alienated); and third, Obama's Republican opponent was disinclined until recently to educate the public, because it is simply not his nature to say unpleasant things.
And so the public has not been educated. A Center-Right Country -- fixated on ecomomic anxiety -- is poised to elect a proto - Marxist revolutionary with strongly racist, anti Western and anti Semitic impulses, a man who will fill Washington's most powerful posts with thousands of the Democrat Party's most virulently anti-American, disloyal and reflexively destructive elements. Who'd have thought such a thing possible?
Only a national three week crash course, taught by a man disinclined to teach it, can avert the foregoing.
If McCain spends the last three weeks talking about economic policy, even if he includes dramatic, sensible, and attractive proposals, he will lose. Discussion of the economy is necessary, but in itself it will be insufficient.
McCain must -- someone must -- force the electorate to take in the reality of Barack Obama. McCain's tentative efforts of last week to do so -- notably his discussion of Obama's long and deep association with the violent Marxist traitor Bill Ayers -- are already being subjected to withering attack from the usual suspects as racist and inflammatory.
Racist they are not. Inflammatory they are. Highly relevant they are, as well.
Does McCain have the will to persevere? Does he care enough about his country to say things that will be inflammatory? Or is he, like the unsuccessful old soldier before him, Bob Dole, more concerned about his own image? Does McCain want to have a chance to win, or is he more worried about being invited to the right parties after he loses?
Does the old McCain have the bravery of the young McCain?
After McCain explains his economic proposals - which he clearly must do - here is what he must focus on for the rest of the election if he wishes to have any chance of victory:
1. Obama's voting Record
Politicians are judged first and foremost by their voting records. They should never be judged by self-serving descriptions given in the midst of electoral contests. Obama's voting record in the United States Senate reveals him to be the farthest left of any member of that body. It should be unthinkable that the America which rejected as too liberal Michael Dukakis and John Kerry, could elect Barack )bama.
Judged on his voting record Obama is an avowed Euro-Socialist who would completely destroy our economy under a crushing burden of higher taxes.
Measured by his record on social issues, Obama is an abortion radical, who opposes any restriction on abortion up to and including infanticide; measured by his public statements Obama is an advocate of homosexual marriage (Obama opposes California proposition 8, which would overturn the California Supreme Court decision imposing homosexual marriage by judicial decree).
Under an Obama presidency all restrictions on abortion will be removed, and United States Supreme Court Justices will be appointed who will impose homosexual marriage in every state of the nation.
2. Obama's Vile and Disqualifying Close Associations
The most important two political associations during Obama's twenty years in Chicago (besides his wife, who believes America is a "mean" place, was never proud of her country, and has been hidden during the campaign), were with the racist, white-hating, America- hating Jeremiah Wright; and with the unreconstructed violent Marxist revolutionary William Ayres, who as recently as two years ago (well after Obama was tight with him) visited and praised the arch foe of America Hugo Chavez, and praised Chavez' use of education as a tool to indoctrinate the young in the need for Marxist revolution.
These two close associations disqualify Obama from the Presidency. Period.
America cannot afford to guess which part of Wright and Ayres' views Obama shares, and which he does not share. Especially when Obama has so manifestly refused to discuss these relationships honestly. It offends our intelligence for Obama to say, as he has, that he did not know about these men's notorious deeds and views.
3. Obama is Intensely Supported by America's Enemies
Without exception, all of our enemies -- Al Qaida, Hamas, Hezbollah, the government of Iran, Hugo Chavez, and Communist Cuba -- are fervently hoping and praying that Obama is elected. What do they know? What does this mean?
Has America ever in its history faced this circumstance -- a major party candidate endorsed by all of our enemies during wartime? At minimum, our enemies' support of Obama indicates he is seen as a weak leader, against whom adventures may be risked (e.g., attacks on our allies or on the United States directly). At worst their support of Obama suggests Obama is seen by our Islamic enemies as an ally in their efforts to destroy the West. The first is bad enough; the second would be a bad dream come true.
After John McCain articulates his economic proposals these three themes must form the core of his campaign for the duration: Obama's voting record and public positions, Obama's atrocious closest associations, and Obama's support by all of America's enemies. All of this must begin with the final debate.
The response by the Obama campaign, and by his abettors in the MSM, will be purple rage. The last three weeks of such a campaign would bring emotions to a boiling point, as perhaps not witnessed in an American presidential campaign in living memory. The alternative would be a quiet, polite loss.
The question on everyone's mind is simply this: does the man who asked us in his convention peroration to "stand up and fight," have the will to stand up and fight?
4. Obama holds average Americans in contempt
No candidate has more thoroughly let his real mentality slip out in one sentence than Obama did when he said that "middle Americans cling bitterly to their guns and religion."
In this single remark Obama revealed that he holds average Americans in total contempt (and, into, the bargain, he revealed that his "religious" observance is a sham). Can anyone imagine Harry Truman, John Kennedy or Ronald Reagan's saying such a thing?
Does a man who in one sentence contemptuously dismissed about seventy-five percent of the American population deserve to sleep in the White House?
