Pride, prejudice and the okey doke
Are you as tired as I am of hearing the liberal lamentation that Sarah Palin would be a "heartbeat away from the presidency" if anything happened to McCain? They say it with such feigned sincerity as though that was the real reason for their concern. They refuse to admit that the Alaska Governor was a brilliant choice and the perfect partner for McCain in reforming government.
The truth is; they wouldn't be attacking her if they weren't in a panic about the way she has revitalized the GOP ticket. Obama can't admit that he goofed when he spitefully refused to select Hillary as his running mate, her 18 million votes in the primaries notwithstanding. Now, his opponent has an incorruptible, God-fearing, courageous woman who truly connects with the values of Middle America.
Sarah Palin represents a clear and present danger to left wingers who want to continue the liberal policies that have brought about the current financial crisis. Keep in mind; it was liberal lawmakers who forced financial institutions to give credit to people with no collateral and not enough income to repay the loans. Basically, they said it was illegal to discriminate against people who want to own a house, car, etc., just because they can't afford them. (I'm on my way to the nearest Rolls Royce dealership if they keep this up.)

During the primaries, when Obama was fighting off the Clinton machine, he made references to "the okey doke," an old term for a feint, which is a trick that pretends to be striking a blow in one direction, in order to distract the opponent from noticing the real direction of the blow.
Democrats are using the okey doke on voters in order to distract attention from the lack of experience in their standard bearer. Hence, instead of talking about Obama's lack of experience at the top of the ticket, they distort the question by concentrating on Palin, who is running for the bottom of the ticket. Furthermore, by continually suggesting that Palin may be called to "take over," they are slyly insinuating that McCain is so old that it's very likely he'll keel over any day. (McCain's mother is 95 and has more energy than most people half her age.)
As usual, liberals are very selective with their prejudice. These are the same people who will tell you how adamant they are about fighting discrimination, but they have no qualms about discriminating against McCain because of his age.

While New York Times columnist Bob Herbert screeches hysterically about Palin not having a good grasp of the issues, he suspiciously fails to mention the goofy gaffe made by the other Veep candidate. When referring to Palin's interview with Katie Couric, Herbert wrote: "It was surreal, the kind of performance that would generate a hearty laugh if it were part of a Monty Python sketch."
Could it be that Herbert missed the Biden interview with Couric? "When the Stock Market crashed in 1929, Franklin Roosevelt got on television and explained what happened to the American people," said the Delaware Senator. Any high school history student would have known that Herbert Hoover was president in 1929 and television hadn't been invented yet.
Can you imagine what would have happened if Sarah Palin had made that statement on national television? Radical Democrats would be organizing street rallies demanding that McCain take her off the ticket for the sake of the country's future. Yet, not a syllable is written by Herbert about hearty laughs and Monty Python sketches regarding Biden's blunder.

The attacks on Sarah Palin have been as vicious as they have been relentless and she has handled them with the dignity, patience and intellect of someone who knows who she is and is not about to be rattled by a coterie of hate-filled zealots who seek to dismantle the wholesome image that earned her the highest rating of any governor in the country.
Think about it: liberals want more state-mandated handouts, a socialistic scheme to redistribute wealth, higher taxes to feed the insatiable appetite of an ever-burgeoning government and other programs that play fast and loose with other people's money. That's why they want nothing to do with reformers like McCain and Palin. They live in fear of a restoration of the values and proud traditions that have made us the strongest nation on earth. If Obama is elected, every time you reach into your wallet, you'll be holding hands with the president.
