Have the Presbyterians Lost Their Conscience?

The Israeli/Palestinian conflict continues to be played out on the world stage of politics in a theater of highly charged emotions influencing public opinion. In the latest act the world has suddenly realized that western civilization is now fighting the same murders and suicide bombers that Israel has been fighting during this 60 year drama. Names like Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Huzballah, Islamic Brotherhood, once only associated with the Arab/Israeli conflict, are now identified by intelligence services worldwide as terrorist organizations operating in the West. Their goal is to destroy our world in an Islamic Jihad, forcing those who survive to be Dhimmi— subjugated and despised ones.

Previously the world was oblivious to terrorism and terror tactics authored and perfected by the late Palestinian mass murderer Yasser Arafat and his Fatah militias bent on killing Jews and driving them into the sea. Jewish blood was 'cheap' in the eyes of the world. Western countries didn't reprimand Palestinian perpetrators as Jewish blood flowed on the streets of Tel—Aviv, Jerusalem, Afula, and other Israeli towns. It wasn't until 9/11 that the world was stunned and shaken to its core, at the depth of hatred harbored in the hearts of Muslim Arab extremists.

Today religious and civic organizations are rising up united to condemn and work against terrorist organizations killing innocent civilians and justifying suicide bombing under any name. Sadly there are organizations who have lost their conscious, their judgment between good and evil, and chose to work, support and even defend these forces of evil and intolerance allying themselves with killers. One group is the Presbyterian Church USA, or PCUSA.

In the last few years the PCUSA leadership befriended Husballah, one of the world's most lethal terrorist organizations solely responsible for killing Americans in Beirut in 1983 when a truck bomb blew up the Marine barracks killing over 241 soldiers and civilians. This was the greatest slaughter of Americans prior to Al—Qaeda demolishing the World Trade Center September 11, 2001. Husballah's weekly chants, prayers and speeches of 'Death to America, Death to America', are broadcast 24/7 from Lebanon and the world through their satellite TV station, Al—Manar.

By considering divestment, the PCUSA has also become the defender and champion of Palestinian suicide bombers headed by the terror group Hamas an affiliate of the Muslim Brotherhood. Authorities estimate Hamas has sleeper terrorist cells in over 40 states in America plotting to commit terrorist attacks on Americans. The Hamas charter declares that the Rotary Clubs, Masons, Lions Clubs, and B'nai B'rith are 'destructive espionage organizations that are spread around the world in order to destroy societies and carry out Zionist interests.' I wonder how many members of PCUSA active in these organizations know what their church is supporting? Has the PCUSA leadership lost their collective conscious and sense of right versus wrong?

The leadership's excuse for supporting these terrorist organizations and calling on divesting from companies doing business with Israel is the security barrier that Israel built to protect its citizens from repeated barbarous attacks. These barbarians penetrate Israel without conscious nor humanity in order to maim and kill random Israelis. Since its creation, the security barrier has prevented thousands of attacks saving untold innocent civilians. Penalizing Israel for protecting the lives of its men, women and children is like penalizing a woman who has been raped repeatedly along with her children for putting up a security system in her home to stop the rapists. The PCUSA is acting as if the rights of criminals committing these suicidal acts override the rights of the innocents to protect themselves.

While the PCUSA accuses Israel's occupation for the plight of the Palestinians, the sad reality is that Palestinians are suffering because of their corrupt leadership. Since 1993 and the signing of the Oslo accord, billions of dollars have pored into the Palestinian authority to help them build infrastructure, improve the economy, build schools etc. The money went to line the pockets of their corrupt leaders while the Palestinians were living like rats. For years they have been left in squalor to be the ugly poster child of 'Israeli aggression.' All that the world sees is poor people bemoaning their wretched lives. They don't see that the Palestinian's plight has been brought on by its' all consuming hatred driven by Islamic radicalism, racism, bigotry, and intolerance to see the Jews destroyed.

The PCUSA's support for intolerant victimizers who prey on the suffering they cause their own people make them accomplices to this evil. The victims of this tragedy are all victims of Islamic Jihad. 'Allahu Akbar' or Allah is the greatest, is the war cry that advances the black flag of Islam when every Kassam or Katyusha rocket is fired from Gaza at innocent Israelis in their own country. It is the cry of glee bellowed every time a rocket propelled grenade is fired or explosive belt of a suicide bomber is triggered killing innocent Jews. There is no glee or satisfaction in the hearts of Jews in the killing of Palestinians. There is only a determination to protect their own citizens, Christian, Jewish and Muslim from the intent of 300 million Arabs whose Imams decree that the Koran compels them to kill Jews. Is that what the PCUSA leadership supports? I doubt whether many local pastors and lay members believe that. PCUSA members should stand for coexistence in peace not a coexistence of hate and aggression towards Israel whose Jewish religion was the wellspring from which Christianty sprang.

Where is their dignity, compassion or respect if they back that which is racist and bigoted towards the Jews of Israel? Israel is the only beacon of democracy in the Middle East. Israel is the country where all persecuted people in the Middle East, no matter what religion they are, know they can run to, to enjoy protection of their human rights and freedoms. Many Arab girls and women, who have been raped and threatened with death, can find a refuge in Israel. Christians, like me from Lebanon, ran to Israel for protection from our own Muslim Lebanese who wanted to kill us simply because we wanted peace with the Jews. Israel is the only refuge for the gay and lesbian Arabs. No matter what your religion, background or sexual orientation is, Israel is the only haven for persecuted people in the Middle East.

Instead of persecuting freedom supporting Israel, the PCUSA needs to champion the Christian Palestinians being persecuted by their Palestinian Muslim neighbors. The PCUSA should understand the intentions of Muslim Imams and their millions of followers who sow hatred in their children's hearts and pray daily for the destruction of Christians as well as Jews. There is an Arabic saying I grew up with: 'First the Saturday people and then the Sunday people.' Click here to view a video produced almost 20 years ago, showing Palestinian Muslims and their intolerance towards their Christians neighbors. You will be shocked by the prophetic nature of the Christian fears expressed then that have become a reality now. Today Palestinian territories have become an Islamic land governed by Muslim Sharia law under the Hamas government in which Christians are being treated like fourth class citizens and may be forced to pay the Jizya to simply remain alive.

Be wary pastors and lay Presbyterians that you and the PCUSA may become the latest victims of Islamic Jihad's holy war of deception. Are you their new pawn in their racist determination to wipe out the Jewish people?

Rise up and throw off the blinders. Let your conscious guide you in standing against the evil of divestment and its stand against freedom. Challenge your leadership to drop divestment and 'flee unrighteousness' and follow the values Christ taught when he said 'Love your neighbor.' Resolve in your conscience and acts of faith and good works to strive to protect the lives of Christians and Jews from Islamic Jihad wherever they may be. Stand up for a country who wishes nothing more than to live in peace with its Arab neighbors and be a voice against religious bigotry and tyranny.

Reclaim your conscious and rescind this evil in your midst.
