Sour grapes

Last week, members of a Dallas area chapter of Moveon.org carried a petition containing about 700 names to 26th District Congressman Michael Burgess's office. The purpose was to urge the conservative Republican to work against Tom Delay, the House Majority Leader, because of alleged violations of ethical standards in the House.

The left—wing, anti—Bush group has managed to come up with 700 signatures in a district with a population of about 800,000; not exactly a mandate. Yet, it is consistent with the liberal tactic of using small numbers to make noise and get some headlines from media friends. Since they couldn't stop President Bush from being reelected, and they have had little success in undermining his achievements, they have decided to chip away at the most effective of his leaders.

In addition to wanting Mr. Delay neutralized, they have attacked Dr. Burgess for allegedly accepting $15, 000 in campaign contributions from a PAC connected with Rep. Delay. They must have forgotten to mention that they, Moveon.org, accepted about $27 million from that atheist billionaire, one world proponent, and fanatical Bush—hater, George Soros, and other millionaire liberals with a radical agenda for America.

Soros has referred to the president as, 'a danger to the world' because, after 9/11, Bush said, in an address to the nation:

'From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.'

In the hearts and minds of the contemptibly craven, the only answer to terrorism is submission. They simply cannot fathom someone like George W. Bush having the courage to stand up to the likes of Osama Bin laden, Saddam Hussein, and other mass murderers of innocent people. If Soros and Moveon.org are against Bush, Delay, and Burgess, it's reason enough to be for them.

Meanwhile, failed presidential candidate, John Kerry said he intends to confront Congress with a document which critics of President Bush say is evidence that he committed impeachable offenses by falsifying reports of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. 'I'm going to raise the issue,' Kerry said, referring to a British memo, first reported in the U.K. Times, in which it is alleged that Prime Minister Tony Blair admitted that the Bush White House 'fixed' Iraq intelligence to manufacture a rationale for war. "I think it's a stunning, unbelievably simple and understandable statement of the truth and a profoundly important document that raises stunning issues here at home," Kerry said.

As fast as you could say, knee—jerk reaction, that always cynical, morbidly morose, and other failed presidential candidate Ralph Nader, called for an impeachment investigation in an op—ed piece published by the Boston Globe, another bastion of liberalism.

"It is time for Congress to investigate the illegal Iraq war as we move toward the third year of the endless quagmire that many security experts believe jeopardizes US safety by recruiting and training more terrorists," wrote Nader. "A Resolution of Impeachment would be a first step."

The British memo, however, contains no quotations from either Bush or Blair, and is devoid of evidence implicating Bush in a WMD cover—up. That doesn't stop an embittered US Senator and his equally spiteful confederate from making inflammatory comments about the leader of the free world. What is truly outrageous, if not treasonous, is the fact that they couldn't care less if those comments inflame the passions of America's enemies, resulting in more casualties to our troops.  Those grapes must taste very sour indeed.
