Deliver us from evil
Weir Thinking About It
As we struggle to maintain the freedoms our forefathers designed for us, we must not be blinded by the enemies of that freedom; enemies who use the very liberties we hold dear as the bludgeon to batter us into extinction.
It doesn't diminish us as a morally competent society if we protect ourselves from the extremism that seeks to chop away at the foundation of our character as a people. The American Civil Liberties Union, by virtue of its title, may sound like the bulwark against totalitarianism; but anyone who has witnessed the behavior of the group would conclude that it has defended some of the most evil, most violent, and most anti—American positions imaginable during its long and controversial career.
Although it's very important to be constantly vigilant concerning individual rights, it's just as important to be aware of the elastic nature of freedom. The adage about you having the freedom to swing your arms until one of them connects with my face is exactly the point.
When the North American Man Boy Association (NAMBLA) got started with its mission of promoting sexual relations between adult men and little boys, there was public outrage and efforts to keep the sleazy group from accomplishing its goals. Yet, the ACLU decided that the pedophile training school was within their rights when they advertised their licentious program on their website.
As if to mock the morality of thousands of years of civilization, the site includes a stunning disclaimer:
"We condemn sexual abuse and all forms of coercion. Freely—chosen relationships differ from unwanted sex. Present laws, which focus only on the age of the participants, ignore the quality of their relationships. We know that differences in age do not preclude mutual, loving interaction between persons. NAMBLA is strongly opposed to age—of—consent laws and all other restrictions which deny men and boys the full enjoyment of their bodies and control over their own lives."
In simple terms, they don't want laws that keep grown men from seducing little boys for sex. According to their defenders, NAMBLA has a First Amendment right to argue that America's laws should be changed to permit sexual relations between adult men and elementary school age boys. As ACLU of Massachusetts Legal Director John Reinstein sees it:
"Regardless of whether people agree with or abhor NAMBLA's views, holding the organization responsible for crimes committed by others who read their materials would gravely endanger important First Amendment freedoms."
In other words, when child molesters get caught with their victims, neither the legal system nor the public should blame those who promote the crime and provide lessons to the would—be molester. Is this what was meant by the framers of the Constitution? I sincerely doubt it!
That morally bankrupt group of creatures is doing more than publishing material saying it's okay to have sex with children, they are actively training their members in how to rape children and get away with it. They distribute child pornography and trade children among NAMBLA members with the purpose of having sex with them, while teaching them what to do if they get caught, including how to leave the country undetected.
As if the support of pedophiles were not enough to brand the ACLU as one of the most morally dangerous organizations in the country, they've added more to their deranged record by taking every opportunity to hurt one of the most esteemed groups in America, the Boy Scouts. The ACLU sent a letter to the Boy Scouts of America in February threatening legal action against public schools and other governmental agencies that charter Boy Scout groups on grounds that their sponsorship amounts to religious discrimination and violates the separation of church and state.
How much more proof do we need that the ugliness of evil often exists under the kindly mask of freedom's defenders? Sadly, the line between good and evil has been so blurred in the last few decades that we find ourselves fighting a never ending battle against a virulent philosophy that that would not have been tolerated during a saner time in our history. If we, as a nation, have lost our ability to recognize evil and stamp it out; if we have abandoned our children to the lecherous whims of perverts; if we have refused to stand up for the principles that gave birth to this country; we have lost more than our sanity, we have lost our souls.
