Mainstream press reporter joins the wrong side
Shortly after The American Thinker criticized the mainstream press, especially the conservative daily The Washington Times, for their lack of on—the—ground reporting in Iraq, a Time Magazine reporter finally broke through the leftist haze, and has routinely been with units doing the fighting. But there is one problem: he's with the bad guys.
CNN.com reports that Time reporter Michael Ware has been the 'go—between' for the insurgents in Iraq and the rest of the media. Mr. Ware, who hails from Australia, apparently prefers to have access to savage terrorist groups, rather than the highly professional Australian Army units who have been key partners to the US in both Iraq and Afghanistan. In fact, Ware speaks highly of the terrorists and their dedication saying
They're trying to tell the Western public: 'This is what your boys are dying for, this is what they are up against," he said. They are letting us know that, 'We can kill your boys, and we are not going away."
Such fawning admiration for those who perpetrated the brutal attack on the four Blackwater security contractors in Fallujah betrays the true allegiance of the mainstream media. Unable to establish trust with the Coalition units battling his masked, cowardly terrorist buddies, Ware turns to the enemy to provide his bosses at Time Magazine all the coverage they desire of their allies who haunt the back alleys of Fallujah and Baqoubah. On top of all of this dreck, Ware also has to prove how brave he is by stating
I certainly go out there and expose myself. I've been to the safe houses. I surrender myself to their control. I've sat in living rooms face—to—face with these men. Maybe I am too close to all of this. I've been this close, and it terrifies me. It terrifies me on a personal level and it terrifies me in terms of what we are up against. This is far more serious, far more organized, committed, than many of us realized.
Yet for all of his phony courage, it apparently never dawned on Mr. Ware that he is the ultimate useful idiot to the terrorists, just as long as he keeps up his courier service for distributing their grisly videotapes of attacks against Iraqi civilians and Coalition soldiers. Time Magazine had better make the most out of Mr. Ware's marriage of convenience with these thugs while it lasts, because once the divorce is final, it gets really ugly.
