Boston Globe entire front page pushing gun ban
The Boston Globe's front page on Thursday left no doubt where they stand on banning assault weapons.
MAKE IT STOP.
Those three words and a picture of an AR-15 assault rifle are the striking message running on the front page of the Boston Globe on Thursday.
The front page and accompanying editorial went to print as Senate Democratswere waging a marathon filibuster about gun control in wake of the Orlando massacre.
The United States has been pummeled by gun violence since the assault weapons ban expired in 2004," the Globe's editorial reads. "This year, mass shootings have already claimed 61 lives. One class of gun, semiautomatic rifles, is largely responsible. But this nation cannot be a hostage of fear. We can make it stop."
Early Thursday, the Boston Globe's Twitter account also posted the names and ages of Americans killed by guns with the hashtag #MakeItStop.
Please note that the Orlando shooter did not - repeat, did not - use an AR-15 in his Islam-inspired terrorist attack. The weapon he used was a Sig Sauer MCX, not even close to being an AR-15. The fact that the media has chosen the AR-15 as the poster gun for banning "assault" weapons is typical of our dumb as a stone media when it comes to firearms.

But you might note the manipulative, emotional appeal from gun control hysterics. Since they are unable to use factual arguments, they appeal to the heart and hope people don't catch on that what they are proposing won't stop a single terrorist or nutcase from commiting mass murder.
This has nothing to do with public policy and everything to do with politics. It's why even the proposal to ban people on the terror watch list from puchasing guns is a bad idea. That notion is what politicians who are anti-gun have come up with to show how "tough" they are on terrorists. As a practical matter, the ban would be useless. But as political posturing, it is brilliant.
Appeals to emotion on gun control have failed in the past and you wouldn't expect it to succeed today.
