Congratulations, Chelsea!

Chelsea Clinton Margolies Mezvinsky has added yet another achievement to her résumé.  Building on her popularity as an NBC News correspondent, she has received an undisclosed advance for a book from Penguin Random House, which describes itself as “the world's largest English-language general trade book publisher.”  Thomas Novelly of the Free Beacon reports:

Penguin Random House, a Clinton Foundation donor, announced its book deal with Chelsea Clinton last week. The book is being published by Philomel, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers. (snip)

Chelsea’s book, It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going, is intended to educate young readers on themes such as climate change, gender equality, and non-communicable diseases.

“In It’s Your World, I try to explain what I think are some of the biggest challenges facing our world today, particularly for young people,” said Clinton. “I also explore some of the solutions to those challenges and share stories of inspiring kids and teenagers doing amazing work to help people and our planet have brighter and healthier futures. My hope is that the book will inspire readers to realize that they can start making a difference now, in their own way, for their family, their community, and our world.”

It sounds like the perfect gift for a youngster you hate.  And I am sure it will duplicate the success of her mother’s book, Hard Choices, which earned only a fraction of its $14-million advance.

There is no mention of a ghostwriter, either.  But of course there never is.  And we know that when it comes to making Chelsea look good, there's no limit on the expensive talents that can be employed.

As Alex Bensky reminds us, Glenn Reynolds called Chelsea’s mid-six-figure compensation at NBS a waste as a salary, but cheap as a bribe.
