Andrew Cuomo wants to keep gays gay
Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York has issued an order that would make it more difficult for homosexuals who want therapy so they can become heterosexual to get that therapy in New York State.
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York on Saturday announced a series of measures intended to eliminate so-called conversion therapy, a practice that claims the ability to reverse same-sex attraction in some people... Mr. Cuomo's plan relies on economic incentives meant to discourage conversion therapy's use on young people. Insurers in New York, for instance, will now be prohibited from covering the cost of such therapy for anyone under 18.
That action — issued through the State Financial Services Department — would be combined with a new regulation from the State Health Department that would prohibit the use of Medicaid to pay for conversion therapy. Centers overseen by the State Office of Mental Health would also be barred from providing conversion therapy to minors, according to the governor's office.
"We will not allow the misguided and the intolerant to punish L.G.B.T. young people for simply being who they are,” said Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat.
Who is being punished? These are people who want to go through with the procedure. Cuomo is not keeping people from being punished; he is keeping people from exercising choice.
In recent years, leading scientific and medical groups have disputed the notion that sexual orientation can be altered, and the American Psychiatric Association has argued that conversion therapy can cause "depression, anxiety and self-destructive behavior."
Really? And yet liberals support hormone treatments for men who want to pass themselves off as women – even young boys who want to pass themselves off as girls – and Medicaid pays for penis removals, all of which also results in depression, anxiety, and self-destructive behavior, like suicide, with 40% trying to kill themselves, according to one study. State governments like Connecticut even subsidize programs that teach men how to talk like women.
Why is it okay to approve of, promote, and subsidize programs to encourage people to mutilate their own bodies, but when people want psychiatric help to become heterosexual, that isn't even a choice available to them?
According to liberals, sexual orientation is not a choice. Tell that to actress Anne Heche.

First she was heterosexual. She dated actor Steve Martin.
Then she became a lesbian, dating Ellen DeGeneres.
Then she became heterosexual again, marrying a man who got her pregnant – the old fashioned way!
Heche has switched orientations almost as much as Donald Trump has switched political parties. Obviously, sexual orientation is a choice. But Cuomo's "New York values" prevent him from seeing this, because Cuomo is in bondage to the LGBTQ community.
