The Pettifoggery of Josh Earnest

Jay Carney was an intolerable press secretary.  He was tasked with the daily chore of official liar/dissembler for the Obama administration and he lived up to the task.  He replaced the equally oleaginous Robert Gibbs.  Who could be worse than Gibbs?  Carney was worse.  And then came Josh Earnest, the most egregious dissembler of them all.  On a daily basis he sneers, lectures, hectors and lies to the press corps tasked with one of two things depending on the bias of the reporters asking questions:  defend the President and/or smear the opposition.

Most of the so-called journalists in the room are there to prop up and validate the Obama administration, no matter how appalling its crimes of incompetence and corruption.  The few who actually are journalists and who ask legitimate questions, like "given the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, is the administration going to rethink its vetting process of immigrants from the Middle East," are dismissed with contempt.  Their questions are met with derision.  Mr. Earnest's answer is "We do not see any reason to change the vetting process at this time?"   What?  Is he serious?  Yes, he is.  We citizens are left to assume the administration welcomes potential terrorists into our realm in the name of multiculturalism and tolerance.  If a few hundred or a few thousand innocent civilians are slaughtered for our suicidal open-mindedness, so be it.  We do not discriminate, especially against radical Islamists.  "That's who we are."

Mr. Earnest is the least articulate of Obama's press secretaries.  He stammers, stumbles and searches for the most idiotic, vague, and bloviated answer.  Like our President and his minions, our king and his court, he has contempt for  "we the people" and reaches out to the lowest common denominators among us to shore up his support.  Is this by design?  Has the administration calculated that the dumber the press secretary, the more likely he is to "reach" the low-information voter?  Probably.  And the press corps, most but not all of them, is too tyrannized by political correctness to challenge this purveyor of lies and propaganda.

Earnest is "shocked, shocked" that Obama's policies have engendered the most sales of guns in the nation's history.  Can he really be that ignorant of the fear and anxiety this President has exacerbated with his "leading from behind" foreign policy?  By his bland acceptance of terrorism?  Does he really think any American citizen is comforted by his "disarm every law-abiding citizen so the criminals can kill them" policy?   He cannot possibly be that stupid.  He does think the rest of us are that stupid.  This President has put our nation in great danger and he has done it on purpose.  There can be no doubt about this now.  His damage to our national security has been inflicted by design.

Mr. Earnest embodies the diminution of the shining city on the hill.  He is the daily in-your-face example of how low President Obama has brought our country.  After seven years of his administration, certain things have become givens:  cops are murderous thugs, criminals are victims; climate change is to blame for terrorism, racism is as pervasive as it was during slavery, college students are fragile flowers in need of safe places if a conservative speaker ventures onto their campus, white privilege is a serious problem, trigger warnings are necessary before one is assigned any work of great literature and Halloween costumes are  micro-aggressions no matter what they are; a few university students on a campus can demand administrators and professors be fired and fired they will be.  We are living in a world gone mad.  And Josh Earnest is the front man for Obama's venal Alinskyite agenda.

Lincoln spoke of the "better angels of our nature."  Wouldn't now be a good time for them to aspire to save the nation and elect a President who loves the country, acknowledges its enemies,  and will seek to vanquish them?
