The White House has appointed what it says is its first "openly" transgendered staff member, which makes me wonder if transgendered people have been serving in the closet for some time.  (What would a closeted transgendered person even look like – a man pretending to be a woman pretending to be a man?  The possibilities boggle the mind!)

The White House has appointed its first openly transgender staff member. Raffi Freedman-Gurspan has been hired as an outreach and recruitment director for presidential personnel in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel, LGBT groups and the White House said Tuesday.

Freedman-Gurspan "demonstrates the kind of leadership this administration champions,” Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Obama, said in an e-mailed statement confirming the appointment. 

A man dressed up as a woman, pretending to be a woman, demonstrates leadership?  Leadership in what?  This man in a dress, with y-chromosomes in every cell of his body, is going to work in personnel, so presumably he is going to recruit other men dressed as women to work in the White House.  How disturbing is that?

What this is doing, in effect, is using the prestige of the White House to promote this form of gender dysphoria, a role model by this increasingly dysphoric White House.
