Hispanic group cancels contract with Donald Trump

A Hispanic builders' association has canceled a meeting to be held at a Trump owned resort.

In a stinging denunciation of Donald Trump, the nation's largest Hispanic construction trade group, the Latin Builders Association, announced Friday that it would cancel its gala at his resort in Doral due to his "recent pattern of bigoted, sexist and ignorant verbal assaults on immigrants, women and veterans."

Donald Trump has made no verbal assaults on immigrants.  He has made true observations about illegal aliens.  Illegal aliens are not immigrants.  To conflate the two is ignorance – the same ignorance they are accusing Trump of.

And since when has the Latin Builders Association ever spoken up for women or veterans?  Probably never.  Why is there a "Latin Builders Association" in the first place?  Is there a Latin way of building a house?  Is there such a thing as Spanish drywall?  Do some developers look for a Hispanic builder because they don't want to hire a white one?  Or do they proclaim themselves Hispanic so they can get preferences in government contracts?

Tapanes Llahues said the group also believes "in the freedom of speech, freedom of the press and the rule of law" ...

If they embrace the rule of law, why do they apparently want the law ignored and for illegals to be given amnesty?  If they believe in freedom of speech, why are they punishing Trump for exercising his?

... and that the members "embrace racial and ethnic diversity … praise and learn from the ingenuity of each wave of immigration ... and we respect the glory of gender."

"The glory of gender"?  What in the world is that about?  Is this some sort of code word for good sex?

The final irony is that this organization that "embraces ethnic diversity" is itself an exclusionary group whose members are of exactly one ethnicity.  If they truly believed in diversity, they would be members of the Builders Association, not the Latin Builders Association.  The organization claimed it was formed to fight bigotry in the 1970s.  Times have long since changed.  My advice to the LBA: join the 21st century, support the real rule of law, and stop belonging to exclusionary groups before you go around labeling other people racist.
