Waging a War on America's Unborn Women

Seems the Democrats are so focused on winning the "war on women" that they gave a thumbs-up to the unfettered destruction of female fetuses purely on the basis of being female. Barack Obama's House Democrats made their radical pro-abortion position clear when they struck down, 246 to 168, the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (H.R. 3541) -- a bill that sought to "punish doctors with up to five years in prison for performing abortions because parents seek a child of the other sex."

The Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act's sponsor, pro-life Trent Franks (R-AZ), said this "legislation would help fight 'a war on unborn little girls,' noting that about 200 million abortions around the world can be tied to the practice of 'sex-selection abortions,' which are more common in Asian and Eastern European countries than in the United States," because in those cultures males are more highly valued than females.

Based on the left's response to the bill, it's clear that liberal logic is so convoluted that the very people concerned about women having free contraceptives have no problem denying women life. Let's not forget that these are the same people who, while funding an organization that has its murderous origins rooted in eugenics and black genocide, managed to persuade African-Americans that they have their best interests at heart.

Clearly Planned Parenthood's foundational principles have not changed.  Recently, a clinic worker was caught on tape advising a woman on how to obtain a gender-biased abortion.  Since that revelation was made public, Planned Parenthood has come out with two statements that in essence cite the answer to stopping female sex selection is to ensure access to abortion on demand.

According to that violent, discriminatory organization, prejudice toward women can only be defeated by making certain that dead female fetuses, had they lived, would have one day had  "access to economic opportunity... fair wages, basic health care, political participation, education, and a life free of violence and discrimination," as well as access to "high-quality nonjudgmental health services free of coercion, supported by information and counseling."

Planned Parenthood Federation of America is not alone. In response to H.R. 3541, "nonjudgmental" organizations like NARAL, the ACLU, and 30 other pro-abortion groups banded together to send a letter opposing the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act. The letter accused the bill of attempting to "effectively exacerbate already existing disparities by limiting some women's access to comprehensive reproductive health care and penalizing health care providers."

Liberal Logic 101 apparently also teaches that the way to eradicate gender inequality is to approve of and assist women in the massacre of unborn baby girls.

The letter also said that "Instead of addressing health disparities and ensuring accessible and culturally competent medical care for all women, the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act will further isolate and stigmatize some women -- particularly those in the Asian American and Pacific Islander and African American communities -- from exercising their fundamental human right to make and implement decisions about their reproductive lives."

So, let me get this straight -- besides a woman's right to choose, liberal support for gender selection is also about respect for cultural diversity? Abortion rights activists believe that women in the 'Asian-American and Pacific Islander for Obama' and 'African-Americans for Obama' communities should have the right to kill a female fetus if that's what cultural mores dictate?  So then, shouldn't Middle Eastern cultures also retain the right to honor killings and stoning women accused of adultery?

Douglas Almond and Lena Edlund of the National Academy of Sciences conducted a national study whose findings concluded that, along with feng shui, "the practice of sex-selection abortions has made its way from Asia to the United States."

Almond and Edlund wrote that the data "suggests that in a sub-population with a traditional son preference... technologies are being used to generate male births when preceding births are female."

The reasoning on the left that dismisses such practices is that, instead of addressing the issue of female feticide, political resources should focus on things like free contraceptives and funding abortion on demand. Nancy Northup, president of the Center for Reproductive Rights, argued that "This bill is a cynical and offensive attempt to evoke race and sex discrimination when actually it's about taking women's rights away." So once again the issue is about offended women insisting that women's rights supersede the right to life.

But even more disturbing than that is the fact that the female-friendly Obama administration has publicly "opposed the Republican effort against sex-selective abortion."

In response to the proposed bill that seeks to grant female fetuses the same chance to live as male fetuses, White House deputy press secretary Jamie Smith said in a statement: "The Administration opposes gender discrimination in all forms, but the end result of this legislation would be to subject doctors to criminal prosecution if they fail to determine the motivations behind a very personal and private decision. The government should not intrude in medical decisions or private family matters in this way."

Barack Obama's barbaric policy stances aside, those most culpable for this horrendous practice are strident pro-choice women who, rather than jeopardize the right to abort their daughters, seem more than willing to support a President who attempts to win a nonexistent war on women by marginalizing, demeaning the value of, and justifying the slaughter of unborn girls.

Moreover, the most ironic aspect of this chilling scenario is that this pro-death administration is presently seeking to wrest control of the entire healthcare system from a free people.  In the meantime, Americans should be aware that one day, on behalf of the common good, the government will intrude upon personal and private "medical decisions," and may even seek to determine who lives and who dies, regardless of gender, race or ethnicity.

Therefore, in the end, those Americans who support abortion are ultimately complicit in cooperating with a life-devaluing liberal policy and are largely responsible for putting all our lives - whether male or female, born or unborn - in imminent danger.
