Obama's dine-and-dash 'responsible fatherhood' meeting
Now we know why President Obama came up with his ridiculous analogy for George Bush's legacy: ordering a big steak dinner with a bunch of martinis, and leaving the bill for poor Barry to pay. Charles Krauthammer already pointed out that if the analogy were followed through to Obama's term, he has ordered a thousand steak dinners with martinis, sticking our children and grandchildren with the bill.
But on the very day that Obama accused Bush of a dine-and-dash metaphorical meal, he pulled the same stunt literally. Mary Bruce of ABC News reported:
Amid the bustle of President Obama's surprise stop for barbecue Wednesday the White House apparently overlooked one key detail: the bill.
Celebrating Father's Day early, the president had lunch with two service members and two local barbers at Kenny's BBQ on Capitol Hill.
As the group chatted about fatherhood, the president enjoyed a steaming plate of pork ribs with hot sauce, collard greens, red beans and rice and cornbread.
The bill for the president and his four guests was $55.58, but was left unpaid at the point of sale, according to pool reports.
We are told that the White House rectified the error and paid the tab. No information is available about whether the waitress, who was also stiffed, received a tip.
Given that Obama's day was devoted to responsible fatherhood, this striking example of irresponsibility once again demonstrates that Obama is great at telling others what to do, but not so good at applying the same lessons to himself.
Another exploding cigar.
