DoD celebrating diversity with hijab
The Defense Department will now allow JROTC cadets to wear an Islamic headscarf (hijab) during training and parades formations. Yes, those patriotic folks at CAIR, BFF's with the virulent Muslim Brotherhood and a noted sponsor of the Occupy Miami movement, have petitioned and won the US Army's approval for changing the uniform policy of our fighting men and women.
Since our President instructed NASA to change its primary mission to upgrading Muslim self-esteem, why shouldn't Americans expect this unbelievable declaration of national self-immolation.
Assistant Secretary of the Army Larry Stubblefield wrote CAIR last week,
"I have been asked to respond on behalf of the Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta to your October 13, 2011 letter concerning Miss Demin Zawity's request to wear a religious head covering (hijab) while participating in an Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) event at Ravenwood High School.
"Based on your concerns, the Army has reviewed its JROTC uniform policy and will develop appropriate procedures to provide Cadets the opportunity to request the wear of religious head dress, such as the turban and hijab. This change will allow Miss Zawity and other students the chance to fully participate in the JROTC program. Additionally, a representative from the U.S. Army Cadet Command will contact Miss Zawity and provide her the opportunity to rejoin the Ravenwood High School JROTC unit.
"The Army prides itself in being a diverse organization, comprised of individuals from many faiths and religions. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention."
So as these patriotic JROTC cadets progress, can we expect that Muslims at West Point will be allowed to wear a hijab? Would we be surprised that portable GI-issue footbaths and halal MRE's are next on CAIR's list of demands? Will the Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard now have to change their uniform requirements?
Taken together, Major Nidal Hasan's minor incident of workplace violence, (Where's the court martial, Mr. President?) and this astonishing slap in the face for every US serviceman who every put on a uniform, one could make easily make case that national security and military readiness has take a back seat to our Defense Department's interest in diversity and social engineering.
One more thought: what conclusions do the strategic analysts for the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA), the Chinese military, draw from this and other social policy changes in the US military since Obama was elected Commander-in-Chief?
