Obama flips on fiscal responsibility
Which is it, Mr. President? Last year, on November 6th, you signed an extension of unemployment benefits, crowing afterward that, "It's important to note that the bill I signed will not add to our deficit. It is fully paid for, and so it is fiscally responsible."
Now, however, you've signed another bill extending benefits, but instead of paying for it-the bill increases the deficit by $34 billion-you've pointed fingers at Republicans, who oppose the bill because it's NOT PAID FOR. In your weekly address, you said, quote: "After years of championing policies that turned a record surplus (no mention of Newt) into a massive deficit, including a tax cut for the wealthiest Americans, they've finally decided to make their stand on the backs of the unemployed."
At 126 weeks-61 more than the previous record-the bill is definitely on the back of someone: the taxpayer. How ‘bout getting off it, Mr. President. How ‘bout creating a viable economy instead of making those who work pay for those who don't.
