Another Saddam guy linked to al Qaeda
Regime of Terror's publisher, Mark Eichenlaub, e-mails me the news that yet another Iraqi Baathist has been linked to Al Qaeda:
[A]nother member of Saddam Hussein's Baath party has been arrested for links to al Qaeda, this time in Italy for attempting to assist in a terror attack using aircraft, suicide bombers and anti tank weaponry. ( AP story here)
Saber Fadhil Hussien, the man arrested, was trying to procure ultra light helicopters for al Qaeda in Iraq and was funding the group from his home in Italy. He was arrested while trying to fly to Syria.
Hussien's court case may provide further details on when and how this former Baathist began "leading" an al Qaeda cell .
