A Moderate Male Chauvinist
It looks like the so-called moderate Muslim Tariq Ramadan has a problem with taking directions from women in positions of authority. This past Sunday when a young policewoman stopped him from entering a prohibited area of the Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle International Airport, an indignant Ramadan pitched such a macho hissy fit that airport police felt compelled to detained and officially charged him with “insulting a public agent” - punishable by up to 6 months of relatively torture free imprisonment and a € 7,500 fine.
The story was first reported in English on The Terror Finance Blog - as being "from informed police sources". But with a little digging I was able to find an official, non-blog, French press report (in French only, of course) on Le Figaro. I guess you can take the chauvinist out of Sharia but...
I wonder if the SOS-Racisme (désolé, le site est seulement disponible en français), the French equivalent of our ACLU will pick up the Islamophobic gauntlet thrown down by the French police in this case?
