The Party for Socialism and Liberation marches along with the A.N.S.W.E.R.Coalition.org signs in Ferguson, Missouri.
The Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) is the political campaign wing of the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition.
The PSL was formed in 2004 by former members of the Workers World Party (WWP) who broke away from the WWP, which was itself a fissure of the Socialist Workers Party.
Here is how the PSL describes its mission:
“The Party for Socialism and Liberation is a newly formed working class party of leaders and activists from many different struggles, founded to promote the movement for revolutionary change.
Capitalism—the system in which all wealth and power is held by a tiny group of billionaires and their state—is the source of the main problems confronting humanity today: imperialist war, poverty, exploitation, layoffs, unemployment, racism, sexism, lesbian/gay/bi/trans oppression, environmental destruction, mass imprisonment, unionbusting {sic}, and more.
We are fighting for socialism, a system where the wealth of society belongs to those who produce it, the working class, and is used in a planned and sustainable way for the benefit of all. In place of greed, domination and exploitation, we stand for solidarity, friendship and cooperation between all peoples.”
Liberation, the “newspaper” of PSL, adds that:
“The Party for Socialism and Liberation seeks to bring together leaders and organizers from the many struggles taking place across the country. The most crucial requirement for membership is the dedication to undertake this most important and most necessary of all tasks—building a new revolutionary workers’ party in the heart of world imperialism.
At the same time as we aim for revolution in this country, we stand for defense of the existing workers’ states, the national liberation movements, and for workers and oppressed people around the world. The magnitude of our tasks will be matched by our determination to win.”
Liberation states that meetings of the PSL are held at 617 Florida Ave, NW, Washington, D.C. Recall that that is also the address for A.N.S.W.E.R.’s National Headquarters.
Among 24 persons Liberation lists as prominent PSL members are:
- Richard Becker
- John Beacham
- Eugene Puryear
- Brian Becker
- Peta Lindsay
You recognize the Becker brothers as the co-founders of A.N.S.W.E.R.
Peta Lindsay was the PSL candidate for POTUS in 2012. On her Federal Election Commission Form 2, Statement of Candidacy, filed February 7, 2012, Lindsey listed the address of the “Socialism and Liberation Campaign Committee” as 2969 Mission St., Ste. 200, San Francisco, CA 94110.
That is the address for the Western Regional Headquarters for A.N.S.W.E.R.
Eugene Puryear was the PSL candidate for Vice President of the U.S. in 2006, and, according to Liberation, he “is a founding member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation and is on the editorial board of Liberation News.”
Puryear, now a candidate for an at-large Washington, D.C. City Council seat, was profiled by the Washington Post on October 22, 2014. His political affiliation is listed there as “Statehood Green.”
In a YouTube video, Puryear stands to Brian Becker’s right holding an A.N.S.W.E.R. sign in September 2013 as Becker speaks against the possible bombing of Syria.
Phone calls to the A.N.S.W.E.R. National Office in Washington, D.C. are occasionally answered by Puryear who was described, by another person answering that phone, as a “volunteer” for A.N.S.W.E.R.
John Beacham is the PSL candidate for 29th Ward Alderman, Chicago City Council. On PSLweb.org Beacham is identified as “Chicago director of the ANSWER Coalition and a Midwest organizer for the Party for Socialism and Liberation.”
In an interview posted on the PSL website, Beacham stated:
“We’re at the world center of capitalism here in the US. Wall street {sic} and the big banks is where all the wealthiest people in the world have their power and money. And they own the media too right? It’s not a coincidence.
So, the workers here and people in oppressed communities, they get a barrage of anti-socialism, anti-working class rhetoric. Well, what does socialism really mean? When you break it down it really means the people owning the economy instead of the bankers.”
The Chicago A.N.S.W.E.R. office and the Chicago PSL office are both located at 4802 N. Broadway #202, Chicago, IL 60640. That address is a second floor walk-up above the Green Mill Cocktail Lounge (4802) and next to the Crew Bar & Grill (4804).
Here is Beacham leading a “Justice for Mike Brown” march.
Beacham is using the “Ferguson Rebellion” to solicit donations for his political campaign.
In addition to identical addresses in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and San Francisco addresses, the PSL and A.N.S.W.E.R. publicize identical addresses for:
- New York City – 2295 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd.
- Los Angeles – 135 E. 3rd Street
- Albuquerque – 305 Washington St. SE
- Seattle – 1423 10th Ave
A.N.S.W.E.R. and the PSL share the same phone numbers in Philadelphia and Boston.
Conclusion: The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition and the Party for Socialism and Liberation are the same Marxist-Leninist oriented group – a twofer. Same political ideology – same addresses – same people.
Next: The Partnership for Civil Justice is the third element beneath the ANSWERCoalition.org signs in Ferguson. Guess where its office is located in D.C.?
