Reid's Teachable Moment

Harry Reid is an obvious product of the government education that he and other Liberals are inflicting on the rest of America, and he should therefore be the poster child for school choice. In his recent comment regarding Republicans' efforts to block "health care" legislation, Reid invoked the ghosts of Democrats past, claiming that Republicans tried to block emancipation and civil rights for blacks. I believe Reid gave America yet another teachable moment.

As I point out in my book The BIG Black Lie, Reid, like most Liberals, is trying to revise the racist history of the Democratic Party, and better yet, to transfer that history to the Republican Party. You would too if you had the racist history of the Democrats.

After losing what Democrats deemed "The War of Northern Aggression" -- aggression that came by the guns of Republicans honoring the Constitution -- Democrats interpreted things as depicted here:

Instead of restoring the Union, it [the Republican Party] has, so far as in its power, dissolved it, and subjected ten states, in time of profound peace, to military despotism and Negro supremacy.
-Platform of the Democratic Party, 1868

Apparently Democrats were still smarting from losing all their free labor. In an effort to intimidate blacks to allow "off the record" slavery and further oppression that they missed so much, the Democrats ramped up the intimidation efforts of their party arm known as the KKK.

This group of rascals rode around in white sheets, scaring both black and white Republicans and occasionally hanging blacks they considered "uppity." To be considered uppity by a Democrat required conditions like a black man looking at a white woman, or perhaps a grown black man speaking up for himself. One of the worse things you could do as a black person was learn to read. Now, that was considered uppity-ness of the highest order, and it almost guaranteed a black person a lynching. And literacy equaling "uppity" has hardly changed...just ask Clarence Thomas.

Republicans responded by proposing legislation against the lynching of black folks as early as 1870. Eventually they passed Civil Rights Act of 1871.

Since 1909, Democrats have voted 209 times against anti-lynching legislation put forth by Republicans. Here's an easier way to understand what I just said: Democrats voted 209 times to allow the lynching of black people. You can see from the quote below the prevailing thought of Democrats throughout history on this issue:

Mr. President, the crime of lynching ... is not of sufficient importance to justify this legislation."
-Sen. Claude Pepper (D., Fla.), 1938

Democrat icon FDR, the keeper of all that is holy in the Democratic Party, loved black people so much that he appointed fellow Democrat and racist segregationist James Byrmes to the Supreme Court in 1941.  Here is Byrnes in his own words in 1919:

This is a white man's country, and will always remain a white man's country.

Byrne was later appointed Secretary of State by Harry S. Truman in 1945. Truman was a member of the KKK in his home state, though Liberal revisionists said he did this only because it was politically expedient. I guess the incineration of 80,000 Japanese non-combatants in Nagasaki via the second atomic bomb -- a bomb that historians now say should have never been dropped -- was politically expedient as well. But hey, he just killed a bunch of Japs, right? The Democrats called them "yellow n*ggers" at the time.

Nevertheless, the KKK flourished so much that Democrat Senator Hugo Black lauded them for helping him in his career in politics, as shown in this statement:

This passport which you have given me is a symbol to me of the passport which you have given me before. I do not feel that it would be out of place to state to you here on this occasion that I know that without the support of the members of this organization I would not have been called, even by my enemies, the "Junior Senator from Alabama."
-Hugo Black, accepting a life membership in the Ku Klux Klan upon his election to the U.S. Senate as a Democrat from Alabama, 1926

After receiving his "Democrat Lifetime Achievement Award," there was more good news to come for Hugo Black, as FDR appointed him to the Supreme Court in 1937. Hugo Black was now able to legally oppress the black Blacks, and Johnsons, and Jacksons, and...well, you get the point.

So where are we today in the Democrats care and feeding of black folks -- their gift to people of color? One only has to read the words of the Liberal icon of racial virtue, LBJ, who is credited for singlehandedly upraising the "lowly Negro" by ushering in the Great Society. In 1957, Johnson explained the Great Society and the part blacks were to play in it:

These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference. For if we don't move at all, then their allies will line up against us and there'll be no way of stopping them, we'll lose the filibuster and there'll be no way of putting a brake on all sorts of wild legislation. It'll be Reconstruction all over again.

Harry Reid would love to put the history of the Democrats on the Republicans, and more importantly, cover up the great history of Republicans as the real champions of civil rights. Reid would love to pass yet another scurrilous plan -- the health care plan that will do nothing but enslave blacks even more -- because that is the Democrat idea of the Great Society. If Pelosi has it her way, you'll go to jail if you don't pay for insurance. More blacks in jail...that's just what America needs!

Reid and his ilk have started the destruction of black America, and like Margaret Sanger instructed, Democrats are using black "leaders" to continue it. "Leaders" like Jesse Jackson are all too happy to remind black people what it takes to be black.  As Jackson instructed recently, "You can't vote against health care and call yourself a black man." It's always good when blacks are aware of the tests for blackness. It makes it easier for our monochromatic thinking.

However, when black people don't respond to the race card being used in reverse, the Democrats have their new and improved version of the KKK -- the SEIU. In the case of black Conservative and free thinker Ken Gladney, the SEIU thugs were there to beat him back onto the plantation.

If America is looking for a teachable moment, Reid certainly obliged. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Democrats are as racist today as they always have been.
